General > church_directory.html Finding A Church For The Christening If you are already a regular church goer then you will already know what church you would like to have your child Christened in. This may also be the case if you live in a village or small town that has one main local church that you may have gone to as a child or know people who worship there. If you are still uncertain about which church you should go to then both the directories below should be of help in finding a church within your area that will be happy to carry out the Christening. Churches will have different rules as to whether you need to be regularly attending church or have lived in an area for a certain time so it is best to contact each you like and find out if they can help. At this point it is also a good idea to see what sort of times you can have the service which can be very important. Also, will you be able to have a private service or will it be part of the normal church service. These are all points you need to consider. There are two main services that are followed by Church of England churches and details of these can be found within the Christening Service page. Both are quite close and have main core features that are the same but one uses more contemporary words. The order of these services will also vary dependant on the type of service it is being built in to. There are many 1,000s of churches with the UK all following the Christian faith. In other ways there can be some differences in how they interpret the bible and other areas of worship. These churches will normally hold Christenings and Baptisms but may again have different rules and you will need to speak to the church individually to see.
